STEP 1  | Understanding Membership

The Central Union Church of Christ follows the membership standard and design of the church that Jesus built outlined in the New Testament. Membership is a privilege provided by Christ in Matthew 16:18 when He declared He would “build His church.” The Bible states through a variety of scriptural examples that membership in the local churches were through the spiritual act and expression of baptism. We stand with God’s blessing and way of being part of His family and our church family.

Membership is about being added to Christ’s Church

At Central Union, we follow the New Testament command and example of membership. When an individual obeys the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he or she becomes a member

of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:13). God himself adds you to the body of the saved, and that body is called the church (Eph. 1:22-23; Acts 2:47). Not only do you become part of the Lord’s church universally, which is the body of the Christ, but also to the Central Union Church of Christ in a local sense. 


STEP 2  | Understanding the Importance of Baptism

 

Your decision to follow Jesus Christ as your personal Savior is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. To have a relationship and start your spiritual journey with God, one must be baptized. Jesus says that both belief and baptism are required to be saved (Mark 16:15-16). It is through baptism that we formally make our commitment to permanently turn from sin and surrender our lives to God. The Bible commands us to be baptized in water like Jesus himself did as a public declaration of our decision to turn away from sin and follow Him.

STEP 3  | Getting to Know Jesus

WHO IS JESUS?

 What does his life mean for me?

As followers of Christ, we believe Jesus is exactly who He said He is. Along with the New Testament Church, we confess that Jesus is a true God and true man in one person. He is the Son of God who was crucified and raised from the dead for the salvation of all who trust in Him.

 


 IT'S ALL ABOUT HIM

 God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross to pay the price for our sins and bring us into a relationship with Him. Jesus' resurrection is proof that we are now accepted and made right by Jesus. We can know the promise of eternal life and experience the joy of knowing God here on earth! 


READY TO ACCEPT JESUS? OBEY HIS GOSPEL?

 God has now offered us a way back to Him. Our own choice of sin separates us from God, and God requires that we also make the choice to return to Him. It is a gift we must accept to inherit eternal life.
